Crop Protection Products in Ukraine: What Sellers and Buyers Should Focus on Before the Season

Corn, wheat, and barley remain key crops for the Ukrainian grain market. According to industry statistics, during the 2025/26 season, the largest buyers of Ukrainian corn, wheat, and barley were various countries, highlighting the broad geographic reach of grain exports.

For the crop protection segment, this is not a signal for hasty procurement but a reminder: offers of crop protection products (CPPs) for cereals should be as specific as possible. It is crucial for buyers to quickly understand which crop the product is intended for, what problems it addresses, and whether its use aligns with the farm’s technology.

Grain crops form the basic demand for crop protection products

In the 2025/26 marketing year, Turkey was the largest importer of Ukrainian corn with 6.46 million tons. For wheat, Egypt was the top importer with 3.86 million tons, and for barley, China imported 487 thousand tons.

These figures do not directly forecast pesticide demand but demonstrate that grains remain an important commodity sector. Accordingly, marketplace offers should distinctly highlight solutions for corn, winter and spring wheat, and barley.

The most convenient format for buyers is not a general term like “herbicide” or “fungicide,” but a complete description: crop, target weeds, application stage, active ingredients, formulation, packaging, stock availability, and shipment region.

What is important in advertisements for herbicides, fungicides, and seed treatments

In the “Crop Protection” category, buyers often compare not only prices but also the suitability of the product for their technology. This is especially relevant for farms managing large areas and planning treatments in advance.

  • For herbicides, it is important to specify the crop, spectrum of weeds, application stage, and crop rotation restrictions.
  • For fungicides, indicate target diseases, recommended application phase, and active substances.
  • For seed treatments, buyers need data on crop type, seed treatment method, and compatibility with other components.
  • For insecticides, it is useful to describe main pests targeted and packaging format.

It is also essential to specify the presence of documentation, batch number, expiration date, and storage conditions. For CPPs, these are not secondary details but factors that build trust with the seller.

Organic producers require special attention

On the Ukrainian market, there are producers of certified organic products, particularly in niche segments of plant raw material processing. For such farms, crop protection issues have different requirements compared to standard intensive production.

If a seller offers bioproducts or agents positioned for organic farming, advertisements should go beyond marketing phrases. Confirmations regarding permitted application, certification, or compliance with specific standards are necessary.

Organic segment buyers should verify not only the product name but also documents, application regulations, and compliance with their certification system.

Digital sales channels increase transparency requirements

In the grain market, companies already use online auctions to expand the buyer base, automate sales, and make trading more transparent. For the crop protection market, the logic is similar: the more structured the listing, the easier it is for the buyer to make a decision.

For sellers on AgroPost, this means working with the product card as a commercial proposal. Photos of packaging, clear descriptions, current prices or understandable negotiation formats, availability region, and delivery methods can shorten the path from viewing to contact.

The key advantage for CPP sellers in digital channels is not only price but also trust in the product’s origin and comprehensive information.

What this means for the market

For the Ukrainian crop protection market, the immediate practical focus is on high-quality content for grain crop offers and transparent communication with buyers. Sellers should detail each item, while buyers need to verify documents, expiration dates, application regulations, and product compliance with their technology.
